Sweet Sunday Night

I just had to write this down so I wouldn't forget it. I put my sweet Isla Shea to bed tonight. I snuggled under the covers with her and read her two books like always. Then I proceeded to sing to her like always. Her favorite song for me to sing is "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. She calls it...and take a deep breath..."We were both young when I first saw you." She always says, "Mom, will you sing 'We were both young when I first saw you?" and she says it really fast. :) Anyways, tonight she decided to sing the ENTIRE song along with me. It was the cutest little thing in the world. I had no idea she knew every lyric in that song. But, and this is the funny part, during one verse she started picking her nose (a nasty habit picked up at preschool) and so we were singing the part that says "You were Romeo, I was the Scarlet Letter" and Isla sings, "You were Romeo and I was picking my noooosseee." Oh my goodness, I was dying laughing. So anyways, I just wanted to write that memory down because it was so cute.

And no pictures tonight, just a sweet memory in my head, and the hope that one day we will just be able to blink and capture a picture in an instant.

I also wanted to include a quote...John, me, Isla and Leo were eating breakfast at Shelby's today when a lady came over to our table to tell us we were a precious family. She then left us with these words, "the days are long but the years go by too fast."
Please oh please let time slow down for us.

Tiny Fun

Just our little family having some tiny fun:
Leo is modeling his adorable Easter outfit

Off to the library
Showing off her face paint...yes I did that and no I won't be signing up for the local fair. :)

I even got mine painted...excuse the bra strap hanging out.

5 Months Old

My baby boy is 5 months old and is such a joy. Leo is sitting up like a big boy now and grabs for toys all the time. He especially likes to grab at my face and eat my nose. :) He smiles and laughs and loves to be tickled on his chest or under his chin. His laughs are the cutest and he squeals too at the end of a laugh. I've tried to catch it on video but of course he gets camera shy when it's rolling. Leo sleeps 12 hours at night and wakes up only once to nurse. However naps are kind of crazy during the day. He only likes to take 30 min. naps still but I'm not going to complain since he sleeps so well at night. It just leaves me more time in the day to play with my little guy. Here are his 5 month photos:

Picnic at the Park

Pink eye afforded us a picnic in the park. Isla woke up last Tuesday morning to a very red and nasty looking eye. Of course pink eye is very contagious so she couldn't go to preschool. She was so excited to get to stay home with me and Leo. It was such a gorgeous day so we decided to pack a picnic and walk to the neighborhood park. Isla got to pack whatever she wanted to eat so we ended up with a lunch box filled with poptarts, yogurt and American cheese slices. :) We had a great time sitting on a blanket, eating our yummies and enjoying the breeze and the beautiful sky and Isla dancing around for our entertainment. After we ate, I put Leo in the sling and Isla played on the slides and on the swing for the rest of the morning. Pink eye may be bad but it was good for us. :)

Blue Skies for Blue Eyes

It was a beautiful day in Jax. Beach on Sunday so we packed up the kids for an afternoon of fun. For Leo it was his first time at the beach. He stared at the crashing waves and grabbed the sand and squished it between his fingers. Isla is a regular at the beach so she wasted no time stripping off her clothes and running through the sand straight for the ocean. However, unlike last year when she would run as deep as she could before John and I scooped her up, this year she stopped as soon as a wave crashed at her feet. She is more aware this year and that gives me a little sigh of relief. She loved just dipping her toes in the water and running back in shore screaming once a wave came, and she repeated this for a good 30 minutes. She also loved hunting for seashells. I can't wait for all the beach days ahead this summer. It's one of my favorite places to be and to be there with my family, who I love more than anything, makes it that much better!
Here are our first pictures at the beach this year:

Bye Bye Baby Hairs

My little baby girl got her haircut for the first time this weekend. I've been putting off doing it for so long because I didn't want to see her beautiful ringlets go. We took her to Sweet and Sassy to have it done. That place is magical for little girls. It's every princesses dream. While we were there another little girl was having her birthday party and the girls had their hair all done and were doing a fashion show. Isla stared in wonder and amazement. :) I wasn't sure how Isla would react to having her hair cut but she was great. The only thing that bothered her a little was the blowdrier. Here is my angel with her beautiful new do.

They even did a fancy twist up
