Rubber Ducky, Leo's One!

Leo's Rubber Duck themed First Birthday was so fun! There were ducks everywhere!!! Since "quack quack" was one of his first words, I thought it fitting to have this theme. The party was on his actual birthday, September 25, and was from 10 to noon. Leo woke up from his nap at 9:30 and came out to a sea of blue, yellow and white decorations and of course rubber ducky central. Cinotti's made his cake and it came out so cute!

I painted these favor bags and stuffed them with little sponges, bubble bath, a bubble duck necklace and party horn. The little duck sticker at the top said "Leo's first birthday."

The food was catered by al la Carte and I made lots of cupcakes decorated with blue sprinkles and of course a sugared duck on top. I also blew up a bag full of light blue balloons and had them scattered throughout the house to look like bubbles. We also had bath/duck themed music playing during the party. The hits were Elmo's version of Splish Splash and of course, Ernie's Rubber Ducky.
As the guests arrived we had little stations set up for the babies to play in. A sand box filled with ducks, a bubble wand station, a "duck" pond, and a color your own rubber duck station (which was a hit for the older kids). We also had a bubble machine that spewed out hundreds of bubbles at a time. Seriously, Leo did not know what was going on. This was his expression pretty much the entire party. :) He's still adorable though.

Sister Isla had a blast too. She made sure the bubbles were blowing the right way and that all the party guests knew what activities they could do.
I bought this blow up duck tub to use as a cooler but also thought Leo might like to take baths in it too. Little did I know this thing quacks LOUD when you press his beak and ever since then, Leo won't go near this Duck.
Here is the duck pinata that lasted for the little kids swings, then a 7 year old whacked it's head off and candy went flying. It was pretty gruesome.
The day was beautiful and we really enjoyed all the activities. I'm so thankful we have such a huge gorgeous tree in our front yard that shades the entire thing.
I can't believe my baby boy is One! He is such a sweet little guy and we love him so very much!
The next event was the clown/magician. He did magic tricks with his bunny and hamster, made m&ms out of sugar and cocoa, did the old scarf in the sleeve trick, and much more. Isla was his little sidekick and was hilarious.
This was Leo's first lollipop and he's never been the same since. Any time he sees one know, he HAS to have it.
And he absolutely LOVED the hampster. He went nuts over him!
Time for the pinata....Isla got a few good whacks in before the head flew off by the 7 year old. Then she just continued to beat him on the ground.
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Leo, Happy Birthday to you! He Loved his cake!

Such a fabulous and memorable day! You only turn one once and I think we made it pretty special for our precious son. Little Leo you are Mommy and Daddy's joy. I wish for you happiness forever and always.
