The house is clean, the car seat installed, schedules are written out for babysitters, the bassinet is sitting empty next to my bed, his tiny clothes are washed and folded, Isla and Leo’s Big Sis and Big Bro shirts are hanging and anxiously awaiting to be worn, and my bags are packed. All I’m doing now is waiting! Waiting for the first real contraction, waiting to call my Dr. and hear the words “go on in,” waiting for the epidural (which I hope I get faster this time), waiting to feel our newest bundle on my chest and hearing him cry for the first time, waiting to see our baby boy for the first time.
So while we wait, we play on the beach in their new matching suits…
We play at the faraway park…
We play dress up…
We celebrate soon-to-be birthdays at Sunday night dinner…
(She was so excited to receive the “Tangled” DVD from Papa, which, by the way, we’ve probably already watched 20 times)
We have dress recital/picture day for her upcoming “Fancy Nancy” themed ballet and tap recital in June…and can I just say this costume and performance suits Isla to a tee.
We celebrate milestone birthdays…John’s 30th birthday was Thursday and it was a day of fun. We went to Ellen’s Kitchen for breakfast, surprised him at work after nap with balloons and a little treat, dined at Culhanes for dinner, and ate the homemade German Chocolate cake Isla and I made for him earlier in the day. Friday night a bunch of us went to Mezzaluna to celebrate his big 3-0. We sat out on the patio and talked, laughed, and dined on delicious Italian food, which for the record, did not put me into labor. Hence the “still waiting” post. Then we headed on over to Ragtime for the after party. Happy 30th birthday, John! We love you and wish that your next 30 years are the best of your life.
We are acing swim lessons and looking cute while doing it…
We are waiting for the little guy who will soon be sitting where these little ones did…
We are just waiting…
